App Marketplace
  • Overview

Oracle is an impressive competitor when it comes to almost everything technology. From data cloud storage solutions to enterprise financial solutions to enterprise marketing solutions, Oracle has found its way to stay competitive within the chosen market. That being said, was the reason for the Application Marketplace. A place where marketers could harness power of both enterprise and social applications to create complex yet approachable marketing campaigns.

This project was an awesome experience with focuses on research of market analysis, analyzing competitors, rebranding a legacy software to a usable scalable solution. In these designs, I led the research, design and developer hand off across multiple teams. I acted as an advocate for both Design and Marketers to create a central location to download, manage and utilize applications

  • Research

During this research phase, it was a simple solution of updating the legacy product to an updated version. Although, being a legacy product for Application Marketplace, it was not utilized and not functional. I took a look into what a marketplace is, what are some reasons for a marketplace from a marketer perspective. This led to a in depth market analysis, user interviews and heuristic evaluation for the legacy product

In my discovery, I was led to many different solutions, with various marketing products with wildly complex systems and capabilities. While keeping the marketplace in mind, the main thing that came up to me was why why would we create an ultra-mega-super-duper complex marketing tool (scientific name) and the answer I came to realize was we actually don't have to. There are a million different applications that specialize in whatever we wanted to build and there are already mental models in place for them. So let us create a solution where all of the applications we use can be installed, managed and store in one place.

Legacy Workflow

While it may seem fairly straight forward. During my heuristic evaluation I found that marketers don't typically use 3rd party applications because they simply don't know how to get them they understood there was an ability. Although there was no clear way to actually install, configure and launch an application. This is where I came in.

  • Design Objectives

Scalable Marketplace Solution

Creating a marketplace seems like the easy solution. Although what sets this marketplace is that it will be scalable and usable. Instead of having to dart between workspaces, create a home for the applications to be configured and managed.

Create a way for 3rd party developers to contribute applications in a cohesive way

This objective came out when speaking to developers and stakeholders. When talking about how 3rd party developers will be able to integrate within the Oracle Marketing Cloud Product, an issue of style came up. They may be able to work but how could we make this a seamless interaction for the user.

  • Design Proposal

Legacy Software Transformation: Successfully rebranded and redesigned the legacy software, focusing on scalability and usability improvements.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Led the design and development handoff across multiple teams, ensuring alignment and smooth execution from concept to implementation.

Advocacy for Design and Marketing Alignment: Acted as a bridge between design and marketing teams, ensuring the platform not only met usability standards but also supported effective marketing strategies.

Centralized Application Hub: Designed a central location within the marketplace where users could easily find, manage, and utilize applications, enhancing overall user experience and satisfaction.

  • Final Designs and Deliverables

Working on the application marketplace project was incredibly rewarding. We started by diving deep into market analysis and studying our competitors to understand where we could make a difference. Our goal was to revamp an old software platform into something modern and scalable.

I took charge of leading the research phase, working closely with designers, developers, and marketers to ensure everyone was on the same page. It was important to me that we not only created a user-friendly experience but also integrated effective marketing strategies into the platform.

One of the highlights was transforming the old software into a new, intuitive interface that users would love. We wanted to create a central hub where people could easily find, download, manage, and use applications without any hassle. This involved not just redesigning the interface but also ensuring it could grow with our users' needs.
